About Spiti Valley

Spiti is a high-altitude cold desert between the Kinnaur and Lahaul ranges, cut off by snow for much of the year. The landscape is bare rock and river gravel with almost no tree cover, punctuated by thousand-year-old monasteries and villages that hold records for the highest inhabited settlements in the world.

This is our most demanding trip. Altitude is real here — most of the route sits above 3,500 m — and the itinerary is built around gradual acclimatisation rather than speed.

Main attractions

Key Monastery above the Spiti river
Chandratal — the crescent moon lake
Komic, Hikkim and Langza — among the world's highest villages
Kunzum Pass and the Rohtang route
Dhankar Monastery and its lake
Pin Valley National Park
