Polo Forest
Ancient temples, forest trails and the Harnav river β Gujarat's easiest weekend escape.
Plan this trip βOverview
Polo Forest sits in the Vijaynagar range of Sabarkantha, where a 15th-century temple complex has been slowly reclaimed by dry deciduous forest. It is the closest real forest to Ahmedabad, which is why it works so well as a one-day trip β you leave the city before sunrise and are walking under trees by breakfast.
Monsoon is when Polo comes alive: the Harnav river runs full, seasonal waterfalls appear along the trail, and the whole valley turns green. Winter is drier but far better for long walks and birdwatching.
