About Kumbhalgarh

Kumbhalgarh's perimeter wall runs for about 36 kilometres along the Aravalli ridge — the second-longest continuous wall in the world after the Great Wall of China. It was built in the 15th century under Rana Kumbha and was never taken by direct assault.

The fort itself is a steep but manageable climb, and the view from Badal Mahal at the top takes in the whole ridge. The surrounding wildlife sanctuary is a separate draw, with leopard, sloth bear and wolf.
